O ! world ! O Life ! O Time !
On whose last steps I climb ,
Trembling at that where Thad stood before ;
When will return the glory of your prime ?
No more - Oh , never more !
हे संसार ! हे जीवन ! हे समय ! जिनकी अंतिम सीढ़ियों पर मैं चढ़ा हुआ हूँ , जहाँ में । पहले खड़ा हुआ था वहाँ पर में काँप रहा हूँ । तुम्हारी युवावस्था का वैभव कब लौटेगा ? कभी नहीं - ओह , कभी नहीं !
Out of the day and night
A joy has taken flight :
Fresh spring , and summer , and winter hoar
Move my faint heart with grief , but with delight
No more - Oh , never more !
दिन और रात में से सुख समाप्त हो गया है । नई वसंत (ऋतु , ग्रीष्म ऋतु , और बर्फीली शीत ऋतु मेरे दुर्बल , हृदय को दु : ख से तो सिहराती है किन्तु प्रसन्नता से नहीं सिहराती - ओह अब नही , ओह ,शायद अब कभी नही ( अर्थात कवि ने अब अब खुशी की आशा छोड़ दी है )
Central Idea of the Poem
The Poem is a short musical expression of despair and dejection of the poet . The | joy of world , life and time has deserted the poet for ever . He feels only grief . He will never feel any joy in this world , in this life and in this time
