About the Poet
James Russell Lowell (February 22, 1819 – August 12, 1891) was an American Romantic poet critic, editor, and diplomat.
The central idea of the poem
The poet
says that the fountain
does its own work and does not feel tired. It is always in motion. It is full
of energy. It looked glad in every
weather. The poet wishes to be fresh active, changeful and constant like the
fountain.

कवि फव्वारे को देखकर बड़ा प्रभावित होता है। वह कहता है कि
फव्वारा सूर्य के प्रकाश में उछलते और चमकते हुए सुबह से शाम तक अपना कार्य जारी
रखता है। वह कहता है कि फव्वारा सूर्य के प्रकाश में उछलते और चमकते हुए सुबह से
शाम तक अपना कार्य जारी रखता ।

चंद्रमा के प्रकाश
में फव्वारा बर्फ से अधिक सफेद दिखाई पड़ता है। जब तेज हवाएं चलती हैं तो वह फूलों
की तरह खिलता हुआ दिखाई देता है।

Rushing in
spray,
Happy at
midnight,
Happy by
day!
फव्वारा तारों के
प्रकाश में तेजी से फुहार फेकता हुआ अपना कार्य जारी रखता है। वह आधी रात के समय
प्रसन्न रहता है और दिन में भी प्रसन्न रहता है।

Blithesome

climbing heavenward,
Never aweary।
फव्वारा सदैव अपना
कार्य करता रहता है और प्रसन्न एवं प्रफुल्लित दिखाई देता है वह सदैव ऊपर की ओर जाता हुआ दिखाई देता है और कभी
भी अपने कार्य से थकता नहीं है।

seeming best,
Upward or
downward,
Motion thy
rest;—
फव्वारा प्रत्येक मौसम में प्रसन्न दिखाई देता है और फिर भी सबसे अच्छा दिखाई देता
है। कभी ऊपर की ओर पानी फेंकता है और कभी नीचे की ओर फेंकता हुआ दिखाई देता है। चाहे
नीचे हो अथवा उपर गतिमान रहना ही उसका आराम है।

nature

फव्वारा प्राकृतिक
शक्ति से भरा हुआ है। इसे नियंत्रित करना असंभव है। यद्यपि यह प्रत्येक क्षण बदलता
रहता है फिर भी सदैव वैसा ही रहता है अर्थात अपना कार्य करता रहता है।

फव्वारा सदैव ही ऊपर की ओर चलता रहता है और अपनी
प्रगति से संतुष्ट रहता है। चाहे अंधकार हो या सूर्य का प्रकाश हो अर्थात रात और
दिन में कार्य करते रहना उसका स्वभाव है। यह सदैव एक ही गति से चलता रहता है।
