The wounded snake its hood unfurls,
The flame stirred up doth blaze,
The desert air resounded the calls
Of heart- struck lion's rage
जब सर्प घायल होता होता है तो अपना फन फैला लेता है । यदि अग्नि को कुरेदा जाये तो उसमें लपट भड़क उठती है । जब घायल क्रोध से दहाड़ता है तब रेगिस्तान की हवा उसे दोहराती है (अर्थात रेगिस्तान उसकी दहाड़ से गूंज उठता है)
The cloud puts forth its deluge strength,
When lighting cleaves its breast,
When the soul is stirred to its inmost depth,
Great ones unfold their best!
बादल अपनी बाढ़ लाने वाली शक्ति का प्रदर्शन करता है जब आकाशीय बिजली बादल का सीना चीर देती है । जब आत्मा को उसकी सबसे अधिक गहराई तक कुरेध दिया जाता है तब महान लोग अपनी सर्वश्रेष्ठ ( योग्यता ) प्रकट करते हैं
Let eyes grow dim and ears grow faint,
And friendship fail and love betray,
Let fate its hundred horrors send,
And clotted darkness block the way
आँखें कमजोर ( होती हैं तो ) हो जाने दो । कान कमजोर ( होता है तो ) हो जाने दो । मित्रता विफल ( होती है तो ) हो जाने दो । प्रेम में धोखा ( होता है तो ) हो जाने दो । भाग्य एक सौ परेशानियाँ भेजता . है तो भेजने दो । यदि घना अंधेरा राह को रोकता है तो रोकने दो
Ans nature was one angry frown,
To crush to out __ still, know my soul,
You are divine, March on and on,
Nor right nor left but to the goal!
और यदि प्रकृति तुम्हें नष्ट करने को अपनी भौहें चढ़ा लेती है तो चढ़ा लेने दो । फिर भी हे मेरी आत्मा जान ले कि तू दिव्य है , निरन्तर आगे बढ़ती चल , न दाँयें मुड़ न बाँये केवल सिर्फ लक्ष्य की ओर आगे बढ़ ।
Central Idea of the Poem
Swami Vivekanand says if there are a lots of problems human life yet we should be discouraged because our soul is divine in nature . Therefore we must go on with courage , and try to achieve our aim of life .
