About the Poet
Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 –
April 27, 1882) was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and poet and
he disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than
1,500 public lectures across the United States.
Central Idea of the Poem
R.w Emerson says that gold and material wealth does not make a nation great
and strong it is the people who stand firmly and suffer long for the sake of
truth and honour who can bring Glory to a Nation. To be
great a nation, needs hardworking and courageous citizens

है। एक देश को उसके वे नागरिक ही महान और मजबूत बना सकते हैं जो देश के सम्मान के
लिए कठिन मुसीबतों के सम्मुख भी अपने कर्तव्यों का पालन करने में दृढ़ रहते हैं और
लंबे समय तक कष्ट सहन करते हैं।
Brave men who work
while others sleep,

राष्ट्र को महान
बनाने के लिए ऐसे वीर लोगों की आवश्यकता होती है जो उस समय भी कार्य करते रहते हैं
जब अन्य लोग आलस में सोते हैं और जो उस समय भी साहस दिखाते हैं जब अन्य लोग पीठ
दिखा कर भाग जाते हैं। ऐसे लोग ही वास्तव में ऐसा मजबूत आधार बनाते हैं जिस पर
राष्ट्र की गगनचुंबी इमारत का निर्माण किया जाता है।
